2017 Buick Encore P0299 code

Hi everybody I was hoping to find a little help regarding my girlfriends Encore.

Her check engine light come on about three days ago and seemed like it had a slight misfire but she didn't get it checked. Today on her way to work she said the car was jerking bad and engine light started flashing.

I read it and got p0299 for engine underboost. Im assuming since the problem was neglected that a whole new turbo is in order.

If anyone can share past experience or if anyone has other questions for me I would greatly appreciate it. She will have my truck in the meantime as her commute is much further than mine but I do need my vehicle back soon so I'm hoping to get this sorted.

Its got around 65k miles on it.

I wouldn't jump to a conclusion that the turbo has to be replaced.
