Hey everyone,

I wanted to ask for advice as to what this could be or if anyone has prior experience with this issue.

Lately, this notice pops up randomly when driving and right after that the headlamp malfunction comes on as well but they come off as quickly as they appear. I don’t even have to push the dismiss button.

Anyone have any idea what it might be? I took it to get the recall addressed but unfortunately I did not get to speak with the person who did this to see what’s going on with this issue as they were very busy. To clarify, this issue was happening before I went in for the recall as well (I went earlier this week).

They gave me a slip when they tested my battery as it is their practice and it is just under the halfway mark and states “replace battery: battery fails to meet industry accepted standards” but I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the messages popping up on my dash.

Just trying to get some ideas.

Thanks in advance

Those are signs of a battery that is on its way out which is inline with the test result they gave you. If the auto-start-stop doesn't work that is another telltail sign.

Just noticed this this morning. Thanks for posting. I have a LOF appointment in two weeks, will have them replace battery. (2018 58,000 miles)

If any of you have tried turning the electronic power steering real quick on a car that was just jump started, you will know the EPS draws massive power from the battery.

I'm getting the "Steering Assist Reduced" message too and I believe it's related to the recall letter I got this week. You can go in and have your electronic brake module flashed at no charge.

Thank you all for the replies! I will replace the battery. Do you recommend I replace with the Buick certified battery? Or can one from Autozone work just as good? Trying to do the absolute best I can.

Truly appreciate your help!

It doesn't have to Buick/AC Delco but it needs to be an AGM battery. They aren't cheap, shop around if you have the luxury, some places (including dealer/AC Delco) have rebates I bought mine from Oreilly's.
