2022 Buick Encore GX AWD Flat Towing

Manual for 2022 Buick Encore GX states that the AWD version is flat towable behind a motorhome. My question is which mode should the AWD / FWD selector switch need to be in for towing? Manual doesn't say anything about it in the towing setup section and I'm not sure if it matters. The manual also states to disconnect the battery after putting the transmission in neutral and shutting down the car. Does anyone know the purpose for this other than the obvious potential of draining the battery while towing? A shop I have talked to for doing the tow system install says that they typically add a battery charger to the car connected to motorhome 12V circuit and leave the car battery connected. I am concerned about straying from the manual instructions but they insist they have done this successfully over many installs. Anyone have any experience with doing this?

If the vehicle is in neutral and then you disconnect the battery the switch setting is irrelevant. If GM says disconnect battery, I would go with that. You don't want control modules active while towing.

You think a memory saver should be used?

We went with a pushbutton battery disconnect and it has worked out well. No need for a memory saver. Even the radio stations are still in place after reconnecting. Also, we keep the AWD selector in 2WD drive mode and have had no issues.
