Good afternoon. I purchased my 2026 Encore Sport a month ago. The car’s sticker claims it gets 29/31 gas mileage which was a main consideration in my choice. So far I’ve averaged 25.2 of which I’ve driven both city & freeways! I don’t accelerate hard and haven’t even taken it over 60 mph. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this issue? I’ve only gotten gas once (last week) and used regular unleaded as recommended. Help!

If the engine isn't broken in yet, I doubt you have gone a few thousand miles in a month, too soon to have any concerns.

If the discrepancy persist after the break-in period, I thought I would ask; are you relying on the MPG that the PCM calculates? It might be worth considering manually calculating the gas mileage by filling the tank, then run the tank down and refill the tank (to the same fill level) and notate the miles driven between the two tank fills. Divide the miles driven by the number of gallons of the second fill. I had to go into the PCM program on my (3) Lesabre's (which are older cars) and adjust the MPG scaling. I would expect your newer car to be accurate but it might be worth the effort to check the MPG accuracy.

Yes, I’ve only driven 400 miles so I’m probably jumping the gun. I suppose I could do as suggested next time I fill up and calculate on my own but the car does it for me so I would assume it’s accurate? I attached a pic that my app provides.

WIth 410 miles on the engine you are way too premature to be concerned about those numbers.

Thank you! I tend to worry about things! I’ll wait awhile before I get concerned.
