94 PA starting issue, not the starter

Hey all i just replaced the starter, when i turn the key it sounds like the starter wants to engage , i get the click but nothing after that. drove it for a week with a NEW starter and then this again. Is there a switch in the column also that may be causing this?

If it were the passkey system (chip in the key), the starter wouldn't try to engage at all. Could be a weak battery, poor ground connection to the engine block, or corrosion at the battery terminals. If all that checks out you may need to put a ratchet on the crank pulley (harmonic balancer) and see if you can get it to turn. If not something may be seizing up the engine.
