Does anyone know a cheap way to fix a leak in a 96 regals fuel tank? or is it smarter just to have it replaced? I talked to a mechanic and he was saying it would be between 500-800 dollars that seemed kind of high to me.

Use a brass brush and clean it up then try JB weld on it or a fuel resistant epoxy! I had one repaired and epoxy dipped about 10 years ago for $75.00

If the leak is in on the tank was that a fair quote for replacement? Because i was checking it out and it seems fairly easy to get the tank off, and oreilly has a tank priced at like 100 dollars. I definitely would rather get it repaired though, being broke and all haha.

Check at the local radiator repair shop. They started repairing fuel tanks years ago when radiators started to get made better and they ran out of work. You might find one that will 'reseal' your old one or they may replace with a new stamping....prob much cheaper than $500
