I would like to know if anyone has tried/been successful at a rear disc conversion on these cars and what would be needed. currently have 98 lesabre with 43k with some 01-07 monte carlo rims and before i replace these rusty drums for some nice shiny gals id like to see if i could do the conversion, I work at a junkyard with plenty W/h-body buicks and parts are easy and free.

Santa, may I send you my Christmas list, please?

I am up in Vancouver Canada, Santa.

Maybe you could drop off a package of Licorice Allsorts when you go back to the North Pole.

its not worth doing a conversion, no offence. but if you wanted to try, you should look at people who swap Buick Reattas to rear disc. the rear system is going to be the same generation of brakes, but the abs systems will be different. do you have abs?

I do have ABS. I have a spare donor motor and trans from a 02 monte SS with ecm accessories and wiring harness and I'm trying to figure out how to get proper brakes for the car before I go into this swap. I build cantilever suspension for go-kart racers around my area and have done rear cantilever suspension for a miata and plan to fab some suspension setup for my buick utilizing this massive trunk space it has. I'm currently in school for mechanical engineering so this sort of "make it happen" on a car its not supposed to is my sorta thing. Ill check into the reatta rear conversion thank you. Money's not a problem, this project is sentimental more than anything.

Consider 00-05 Lesabre components or similar GM matched parts for the conversion if going ahead. A lot of the vehicles that GM made during this era have carry over parts that are a direct fit for various years and models. Best suggestion is look at part numbers and diagrams to get a build list.
