I have found numorus Post about heaters not working on the buick regals. Some nice answers also. However mine is just a little bit different.

Help please if you can. Thanks in advance.

My 2003 Buick Regal has a automatic control. just lately I get in the car and the heater blower won't come on on any of the speeds. I can drive for awhile and so far after a mile or 2 it will come on. It works fine from then on.

I also pulled a scan on it and pulled a P0128 code. Has to do maybe with thermostat and antifreeze being below thermostat I think is what it said.

So Question is, Where do I start to find the problem. It has only done this twice but it is giving me a warning I think. I will probably pull the Thermostat tommorrow and replace it. (156,000 miles). Could this possible fix the fan blower also??

I also seen where one guy had a new control in his garage but stated he had soldered his and didn't use the new one. Is it hard to get the control out and will I see where it needs soldered if I take it out.

Thanks so much for any input.

I did not see mention of the dim display which is the only need to remove the controller.

If you have a blower problem that is intermittent I would think either a bad connection to the blower motor or a bad motor. I would check under the glove box for the motor and connectors. You can even remove the motor and connect it directly to a battery to check it. There is also a blower resistor that controls the speed, but since you have the same results on all speeds, that is probably ok.

I did get the code you mention on one of my Regals and that just keeps the engine from reaching full temperature, but no effect on the blower motor. Just replace the thermostat to fix that code. It will help your heat to get hotter and probably help gas mileage.

I cut this from a previous post I made regarding the removal and repair of the display.

First you need to get the climate control out. Pop off the bezel/cupholder around the shifter. Then remove two screws in the console compartment, two screws behind the shifter, and two screws under the dash at the front of the console. At that point the console will slide back far enough to get the control out. The control is held with two screws. You need to take the control apart by removing the screws and popping it apart.

If you have not soldered before, it might be best to have someone who had do it. It is not going to be a repair place, but maybe an electronics repair.

These surface mount resistors(rectangles with 241) want to move when heated up. I held mine down with a toothpick. If they are burned up I believe they a 150 ohm 1/2 watt. I just did the 5 at the bottom of the pic.

Thanks much , I appreciate your help. I will check it out. I can solder some so it should be ok if I take my time. I had the dash lights on the milage and the shifting lights go out and removed the dashboard and soldered in 4 new diodes so hopefully I can do this one.

Again Thanks much for your help.

Replaced the thermostat and bleed the system and the heater is for sure working better now as far as heat.

I will try to check on the blower moter problem tommorrow or friday.

Anyone needing to know the Thermostat is a very simply repair. Took me about 15 minutes including clean up. Of coarse you need the right tools to do it easy.

Be sure to buy a new seal also as it does not come with the thermostat.

You might want to make sure the automatic climate control isn't delaying until the engine is warmed up so it has warm air to blow instead of cold.

Yesterday the motor quit completely.

Pulled the Heater blower motor out of it. It turns out to be bad. Put a new one in and it is working as it should.

Put new Thermostat in it on Wednesday and refilled antifreeze and bleed the system. It about run me outta there when the motor started blowing.

Now I am getting good blower but it sure seems to be a little cooler than usual. The heater would run you out of there and now it seems to be just warm air not hot. I think I may have alot of things going on at the same time.

I am noticing that the upper and lower radiator hose is not real thight. They are hot but when you sqeeze them they don't feel like they have antifreeze in them.

Any suggestion are appreciated. I will see if I can figure out how to check the auto climate control. I have it off right now and just on the manual. I for some reason rarely ever put it on climate control. Not sur why tho.

Thanks for any input. Waterpump????

if you have no speeds on your fan, check the resistor is is located on the fir wall under the hood in most cases, has a plug on the top and in usuall held in with 2 screws near the a/c box on the right side of the car. it is a common problem on most GM cars with your comdition

Thanks for your input. I think the system was low on antifreeze. I had filled it up in the radiator but didn't fill the resovoir. topped off the antifreeze and it is heating great.

I do have a drip on the passanger side though right under the belt tensioner so I figure I will need to put the 2 new tubes in it. Hope i'm about done with this crazy thing.
