So, now that I've had my mom's LaCrosse for a couple of weeks, I've identified a couple of problems that need addressing. The first I knew about already. The pivot on the driver's sun visor is loose and when I make a left turn with it down against the side window, it will pivot into my head, which is both distracting and dangerous. Does anyone know how to tighten it?

Second, voice dialing via Bluetooth is not working with my phone. Whenever I try, I tet a message that the phone book is downloading and to try again later. I can receive calls via Bluetooth and can use the car's speaker phone function if I dial from my phone, but that isn't practical while driving. I did not have this problem when I paired my old iPhone to this same car a couple of years ago, nor did I have this problem with my other LaCrosse.

Any suggestions about how to fix either of these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Are the two cars the same year?

Does the one that works have a latter build date?
Did you check if there is a option to see software versions?
The two cars are at opposite ends of the model run. The one I've had since 2019 rolled off the line in July 2012, and the one I just acquired and am having problems with was made in June 2013. Same model year, but almost a full calendar year apart. The thing is, I had had no problems pairing my previous iPhone with the car a couple of years ago. This time, there weren't any available spots to add a phone, as all five were taken up. It seems everyone in the family had paired their phone with that car at some point. I deleted my old iPhone to make room for my new one, but I'm wondering if, with all those phones paired with the car, there isn't enough storage to accommodate yet another phone book. I may try purging all of the paired phones and then re-pair my phone to see if that will fix the problem.

Cleaning that up is a good idea but the large difference in production date combined with an older phone working points to a software compatibility issue.

You may well be correct in your assessment, but one thing doesn't quite add up in my mind. My present iPhone 14, running the latest iOS 26, works just fine with my older LaCrosse, but not with this car that's eleven months newer. It would seem to me the problem would be more likely to occur with the older car than with the newer one. Could it be because I paired the phone with the newer car after I had updated the phone to iOS 26, while it was paired with the older car well before that update happened, thus 'grandfathering' its phone book in? That seems like kind of a stretch, but it's the only thing I can come up with.

I did exactly that, and then went out to run an errand. I tried to make a call shortly after I left the house, and it didn't work. But then I tried again when I was on the way back home and it did. I'm guessing the memory cache was too full before, but it's all good now. I've still got to figure out what to do about the sun visor, though.
