Additional 12v outlet??

On the front of my driver seat at the bottom is a second 12v accessory outlet....but it doesnt do a good job charging my phone.
Anyone use this one?

Never used it, however I did use the upper one, once or twice until I noticed it made my phone quite hot. Might be the car adapter I was using, so now I do not charge my phone in the car anymore. I charge it off the USB port in my work PC or at home with the 110 charger that came with the phone. The bottom outlet should work just as well as the top unless you have an ill fitting plug or the receptacle is damaged.

I've used a 12v to USB phone charger on both the under seat plugin and the one in front of the shifter. Both made the adapter extremely warm if not hot, and you could actually smell the internals of the adapter is if they were burning. It never did hurt my phone, the adapter, or the 12v outlet, but it was a little too hot and smelly to be comfortable using it.

I tried multiple adapters, all the same result. Both outlets seemed to charge the phone fine though. Beings I got a new phone and the battery life is much better I don't really have a need to use a car charger anymore and I instead have my dash cam plugged in. For some reason, it doesn't seem to get hot like the phone chargers did.


Edit: Also, I don't know what phone you have, but if its like my Samsung which has "fast charging", using a 3rd Party charger will not only disable fast-charging, but will actually be slower than regular charging as well.

There was actually some dirt that prevented me from pushing it all the way in. When i cleaned it out i was able to get the charger all the way in and it charged my phone quite well. Didnt overheat but i will keep an eye out for it in case it does one day

Can someone help me figure out where this really is, or if I really have this extra one? My car came with the column shifter so I might be "missing" some of the console that others have. Mine also doesn't have factory Bluetooth so could that be why it seems missing? Thanks

It is on the driver seat at the bottom. Feel the front of the seat under your right leg. Just look for it. Theres another beside the ashtray under the radio

My 2010 also has the column shifter and only has one 12 volt outlet, and that is right next to the ashtray. I can see the spot on the seat where that one would be located, but the hole for it was never punched out in the plastic trim piece under the seat.

Anyone know if the wiring harness to the seat has a hook up for one? If so, I might start looking for them at salvage yards and try to add an extra outlet.
