So I just bought a 2006 Lucerne CXL and pretty much every speaker is blown so ive decided to practically get all new speakers and put an aftermarket CD player in it. I bought a wiring harness so that im able to keep all the steering wheel controls and chimes and things but anyway- my aftermarket cd player has RCA oututs for subs, front speakers and rear speakers, i connected all the wires from the harness to the plug on my CD player.
then i realize that there is a factory amp in the truck. i was already going to install an aftermarket amp for my interior speakers and a seperate amp for my subs but my question is- do i leave the speaker wires from back of my deck connected to the speaker wires on the harness? If i do that, those speakers will be running off the factory amp, but what happens when I run the RCA output from the back of the deck to an aftermarket amp? would i have to run all new speaker wire to each interior speaker? and in that case the factory amp wouldnt be getting used?
or potentially, use the factory amp for the front speakers and tweeters and use the aftermarket amp for my rear speakers? but then i would just run new speaker wire from the aftermarket amp to my rear speakers and just tape off the speaker wires from the amp to the harness since id be running RCAs for the rear speakers off the deck?
WOW that was a lot to think about and i hope that i explained that exactly how i meant it.
if anyone has any pointers or tips- (if all is corret) let me know. im down for suggestions.
THANKS
