Hi,
My Mom has a 1994 Park Avenue and she took it to some idiot to fix the a/c and heat. The dual climate control stopped working. No heat or ac, but the power buttons worked. This guy said he can fix it. He tried to wire the A/C to a toggle switch and hook up direct from the battery. He screwed it all up which I tried to tell her not to do it.
Okay, After he did this and Mom called and after he got done and she said he kept replacing fuses because they were blowing. I went over and all 4 power windows are down and will not work at all. Power seat works. The ABS light was on, so I drove it around the corner and pressed the brakes and they lock up and will not release. All this was fine until he tried to wire the Climate control system direct. I checked all fuses. I put the power seat circuit breaker into the window breaker and the window into the seat and the seats work so it is not that. any idea what he could have fried? My eye sight is going so I can't do much work on it and we are really poor right now, so no money to take it to a shop.
Thank You,

I can feel you're pain! You were correct, that mechanic/idiot was not familiar with how the dual climate control system works! The windows are controlled by circuit breakers. What was the original problem? Did the blower fan stop working, or the A/C compressor???? We would like to help, but a lot of things are missing in you're post.

Hi,
Well, I would get in the car and hear a little motor/buzzing sound under the hood for a couple months. Could not figure it out. Mom told me she pulled in and shut the car off and the ac would not shut off. I checked it out and it was blowing air. Could not turn it off and if I remember the controls were not on. Started the car and the climate control lights came on and I shut off the auto and dual button and than I pushed off and it went off. About a week later she told me that the a/c was not working. I looked at it and no ac or heat. Nothing at all. Like it was dead but the controls still worked if you pushed them and the outside temp works. I thought it was the fan and got a new one and still nothing. Put the old blower motor back in and sent the new one back. On the Climate Control panel. All the buttons light up. You can turn the temp down or up, but nothing. One thing I did notice is when I press the dual temp button it did not shut off and I think the Auto would not shut off. I would press the manual and it won't light up and the Auto stays on. The rear defrost works. So, I am lost. I was thinking it is the one thing I can't remember right now. I just now for regular it is a 25.00 sensor and if you have the dual control it was around 250.00. When I remember I will post it.
that is what happened before the guy butchered it.
Thanks for any help you can give,

From you description, it sounds like the blower control module has failed & maybe the 25-amp fuse in the under-hood fuse panel has blown as well as some others. You need to check them all in the interior and the firewall fuse panel. I have to assume this car has an auto climate control??

Hi, I will have to look that part up. I checked the fuses visually and they looked fine and checked the big fuses under the hood and they looked fine. Do I need to check them another way? Also, since he tried to fix it by wiring direct their is no power to the climate control now. Yes, it auto climate control.

Conflicting info here! Did he/she run a direct un-fused switch wire to the blower motor? The blower motor pulls about 18-amps and if this were the case, the wire will overheat and cause damage to the system. You need to check the fuses with a meter, rather than just looking at them.

Hi,
Yes, I think he did run a wire direct to the blower motor. He will not talk to me. He had the blower motor wire cut and a large red wire going from the blower motor to a toggle switch under the dash. Screwed all up. There were three wires going from under the hood around the passenger side door and under the dash to a toggle switch. What he was trying to do I have no idea. Don't know where to start. Start by checking fuses with a meter and go from there?
Thanks,

Start from removing the abortion the mechanic installed and throw it in the trash can! Then you have to verify that ALL fuses are OK and that no other wires were damaged in this process. The blower control module is located under the fuse/relay panel on the firewall. Check for burnt wires, or terminals there!

Hi,
Ok, going to be nice out so I will start doing that Monday. Thanks for your help. He pretty much butchered the wiring, so I will let you know what and if I find anything.

Hi, Had have help because of my eye sight. Fixed all the wiring. Had it all cut up. The guy that helped me said it is the Blower Motor Resistor that needs to be replaced. Is the Blower motor resistor and the blower control module the same thing? Very expensive for the auto control compared to the manual. Thanks for all your help. Will be back when I get the resistor from a junk yard.
