I don't use ethanol-free gas (everything near me is 10%), but I saw someone talking about it on the Riviera forum (apparently their cars prefer 5% ethanol or less). I'm quite sure our LaCrosses are calibrated to run on 10% without issue, but I found his question interesting so I did a little digging...

Pure-Gas.org is a site dedicated to one, simple task: to list the gas stations in the U.S. and Canada that serve ethanol-free gasoline (they currently list 5733 stations). They also offer a free iPhone app, here's a link to that.

A while back I stopped at a station in Knoxville TN (across from Rice Buick who had just turned off my check engine light). I noticed that one of their pumps sold 'pure gas' but I didn't want to mess with anything out of the ordinary as my car was already throwing lights on it's own 🙂

Funny that 100% gas is somewhat unusual, anyone run it?

not in my Buick, only in my Corvette - it is only available in 91 and I don't put 91 in the Buick

ethanol free gas gives better mileage, can't comment on the power though

I would if I could find it. Unfortunately, can't get it in Atlanta.

No brand of gas is 100% ethanol free at all locations. Availability depends on area and the owner of the station.

In most, if not all, parts of the USA; ethanol is added to gasoline at a 10% mixture. It is used to reduce emmisions from car exhaust. There are also tax incentives for the gas stations to use the 10% blend.

Don't think there is any ethanol polluted gas in Alaska. I use premium unleaded in my airplane up there but can only do so as long as it is ethanol free. I would guess it costs too much to ship the stuff up there. If I had a choice I would burn ethanol free gas but I am living in Houston, TX at the moment so there no choice.

Apparently, ethanol gas is what is gumming up my lawn mower all the time so I have found one station within 15 miles of me that sells pure gas, not sure on the octain level though, haven't tried it yet.

The Feds want to up that 10% to 15%, why, I have no clue.
