ash tray assembly removal 2004 Park Ave Ultra

How difficult is it to remove the entire ash tray assmbly. Our ash tray won't close. Our mechanic thinks it will require removing dash panels and is a really extensive job. Is that true?

It has 4 mounting screw, bolts No need to remove any panels.
