I saw a previous thread about this, but it was never answered. When my Android phone connects via Bluetooth, the media volume defaults to 0 everytime. After I turn it up to full, it will go back to 0 when the next song plays. If I turn up the volume a few clicks at once, it will lower the volume on the phone as well. I have spoken to my dealer and they have no clue. It does this on my wife's phone, also Android but different model. I do not have any issues in my Focus ST, so I know it's not the phone. I hope someone can help as this is an extremely annoying issue! Thanks!

Disclaimer - I am not an Android expert and got these from a google search.

Do you have driving mode turned on? I believe there is a setting which may activate your 'do not disturb' if driving mode is turned on.

Driving Mode will start Android Auto or Do Not Disturb automatically

Also, not exactly your problem, but have you disabled absolute volume in the developer options? Easily reversible if it doesn't help.

Thank you for the reply. I have Android 8.0 installed. There is an update, but I have not done it. Wife has and she encounters the same issues, so I doubt that will help me.
I have looked at my DND modes and they are all off. The other article has a feature that my phone does not, so no luck there. There was a feature on the Infotainment that set a maximum volume at start up on the car. I set it to max. No help either. It's very puzzling!

my iphone turns to about 75% every time it connects. I turn it up to 100% (so that the volume in the car matches the rest of the settings) but it always reverts back to about 75%. Not sure why. It has never done this in any other car.

Guess this is just one I will have to deal with. Dealer is clueless and no one has much to say here. Seems like a strange defect, and one a few people have, but no solution to be had.

I'd call the Buick Customer Service number and let them know. I've been talking with them about 6 weeks now, mostly about audio issues (22.9 white needle f-ups), they are actually very good with communication and follow up, believe it or not. If you let them know, you can ask them to address it in the next software update.

Anyone else with infotainment issues, squeaky wheels get grease. If enough of us call to let them know we're not happy (be courteous please), we likely have better chances at resolution. I still lose my XM presets (set only to 20, the max GM advises) once a week. But I keep it in front of them with these calls so maybe, maybe they'll push out a fix.

866-790-5600 is the number.

The majority of the automotive white collar workers are still working remotely in Michigan.
That could be part of the reason why SW fixes are being held up at the moment.
