Hi,

The shift lock stopped working after i had forgot to put it in park before turning the car off. I put the car in park (like many time before), went out and when i got back it wouldnt move from park anymore. Fortunately, i found on this forum how to unlock it manually. MY break lights are still working, so i'm guessing it is not the fuse.

I would like to know if it is possible to replace this part or does it need a completely new shifter, and if it is easy to replace yourself.

Thanks!

Frank

Without testing first to see if the shift lock solenoid is getting power there is no point in replacing it.

Thank you for your fast answer! ill try to see if i can get a meter to check if it has power. If not, can i just remove the part ?

This may be helpful, but not sure if the solenoid can be defeated without other issues.
