Buick Rainier CXL Dome Light failure

Hello all,

I recently removed my sun visors to install a 5 panel review to cover the blind spots. I disconnected the red wires and taped up the exposed parts. After the mod I found that I cannot turn the dome lights on. They come on when you open the doors but other than that they do not work. Are the two red wires that went to the sun visor lights part of a closed circuit? Would attaching the two red wires together complete the circuit?
