My car has been losing power at random times and so I replaced the ignition switch myself (this is a common problem in GMs from '97 to '04). It seemed to fix the problem because I haven't lost power since. However, the headlights are very dim and I don't know what the cause of the problem is. Did I re-wire something wrong with the ignition switch?

please bear with me, I'm still not familiar with a lot of things in regards to electrical components.

Not sure if you've figured this out yet or not Mallard, but I'm wondering if it could be your malfunction swi... Er, I mean your "multi-function" switch? Even though it's not generally controlling the on/off function of the headlights, it does control the high/low function, so at least has some bearing on the circuits involved. And they do go out pretty much as often as the ignition switch.
In fact, when my ignition switch went out, it was the turn signals that let me know there was a problem. My flashing lights on the dash and finally a stalled engine were only happening when I would turn on one or the other turn signal.

So I ended up replacing both and not having to go into the column twice. Well, I did, but that's another story.

Good luck. Hopefully you've found the issue and dealt with it already.

So when I turn my car off I have a 2003 Buick & the windows still can go up and down when its off and when I open the door it continuously dings until I closed the door & also the radio stays on until I hit the button to cut it off it don’t shut off automatically…I don’t know what causes these problems & I need answers because I don’t want it to effect my battery or anything else.

Are you turning the key too far before removing the key? can you still remove the key if it is 1 click clockwise?
