I'm looking for an AWD sedan with a quiet cabin, good audio system, and good visibility, but still somewhat fun to drive, with good handling. I can't see myself in a Benz, BMW, or Audi, so I'm looking at Buick. The main competition would be something like a used Acura. How is your Regal GS doing with cabin noise? Can you hear music easily at highway speeds? Any issues with visibility? Thanks for your help.

With windows closed its not even a question and with windows open you have a speed related automatic volume control. Take one for a test drive and see for yourself.

My .02 cents on two points.

First, many audiophiles complain mightily about the stock Bose audio set-up in today's GM cars. I thought the same in my car until I realized and adjusted the equalizer that is built into the entertainment system, unlike the old EQs from 30 years ago that were next to the displays. I rarely ever turn the volume past 10; it's just not necessary and the sound is great, even to a tin-ear like me.

Second point is that you don't have to get a GS to get AWD, unless you prefer the NA 6 over the Turbo 4 and desire the other goodies the GS offers. If the type of engine doesn't matter, consider the new Avenir trim (step below GS) or the Essence level (2 down from GS). I don't think AWD is offered on trims below Essence.

Mel's right - taking a test drive is the next best step to answer your questions.

The LaCrosse also comes with AWD on upper trims. Depending on incentives at the time and old stock, you might be able to get into one for nominally more than a comparable Regal. Someone I know did exactly that (points at self). It's really going to come down to details and what trims have the options you want.

I've yet to bring the stereo beyond about 20% volume. It can go crazy loud.

I'm a bit mixed on the quietness of my wagon. The glass is definitely great at noise blocking. There is a bit of tire noise though and it's probably more pronounced in the wagon over the sportback, due to the huge open space in back except when I'm hauling stuff. It's not hard to hold a conversation or anything, but it's not exactly devoid of noise, either. I would recomend taking a test drive up to 70mph and seeing what you think.

My Regal is Quiet. Only thing that makes noise is the suspension when going over bumps. But I think all cars make a noise when going over bumps.

If you want really good handling, the last generation regal is very very good at that. It's a little smaller than the current 2018+ Regal.

Don't get me wrong,.. the current regal is no slouch either.

Visibility wise, I don't think it's as good as the cars of the 90's or early 2000's that I had. But you get used to it.

As a bonus, I don't think there is anything in it's class with anywhere near as much cargo space.

Test drive all the different cars that interest you. And I mean take more than 10 minutes driving them. Always good to have someone you trust with you for their opinion.

Play with the infotainment systems when parked at the dealership. Get a little more familiar with the cars before making a choice.

The money we spend on new cars, and having to live with them every day, we mind as well get a little more intimate with them before we make the commitment.

I've own my regal since 16' and now for almost 3 yrs it's quite ride. Cabin is quite you dont hear anything unless a harley is next to you, it is fun to drive. Go to your nearest GMC BUICK dealer and test drive one. The new regals are big and spacious but I personally didn't like it, it's more of a family car the way I look at it. 👍🏻

Only had mine less than a week, but cabin is quite quiet coming from a Pontiac G8 and GTO. Road noise is minimal and this thing really glides over bumps in standard mode. In Sport or GS modes, I can notice a bit more of a firmer ride, but not much more road noise.

Audio System is decent with the Upgraded Bose system. Nothing to write home about, but better than an average one. I haven't adjusted the EQ enough to really get it how I like yet. Need to increase the treble slightly as I like highs over bass. I like having a USB port for music. Can't comment on the Satellite radio as we do not receive it here in my area. Has HD radio too... Which we also don't have any stations that are broadcasting in that here yet lol.

Visibility is the weakest point for me. It's not bad, but it's not great either. The hatch glass area visibility is of course smaller than a sedan due to the rake of the glass. Likewise the front windshield has a steeper rake than you would expect. Mirrors are good, but they are large and close to the A pillar causing a big blind spot in certain situations looking past that area. Again, not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of.

That said... The seats, the ride, the pull and sound of the V6, the cargo area and even the handling. They all are perfect to me for a car like this which wound up being the reasons I added this to my garage. Again, I would test drive one to be sure it lives up to your expectations.

Thanks again for all the input, really helpful. Looking forward to test-driving one, but I know certain annoyances don't creep up until you've had the car for awhile.

My GS is at 9700km now, like it quite a lot.
The cabin is "quiet" according to a Q5 owner, so I'd say it probably is quiet to most people's standards.
The only issue I have now is the suspension rattle, which is a known issue now, just waiting for the replacement parts.
The interior rattle I had before was due to the cable of my dashcam being placed between body parts. I got it out and all good.
