I bought a new thermostat for my car last night in hopes that it would give me heat in my car. I am losing antifreeze somewhere too its not leaking on the ground and its not going into my oil but about once somethimes twice everyweek I have to add coolant to my car when the heater is on it will only blow cold air its winter here in maine and its freaking COLD driving to work with no heat when its - 4 degrees HELP!!!

ok theromstat you find by following top radiator hose back to motor remove hose and two bolts easy to do an dyou adding coolant to radiator or over flow jug should add to radiaotr when motor is cold crank and watch flow but sure thermostat does control how the car cool if its stuck close car over heats stuck open might never get warm you can fin dmost car repairs on line ust by typing into search box like how to check over heating car but way to check thermostat working is while motor is cold remove cap from radiator crank motor watch flow in a few minute shoul dsee coolant drop and rise if it does this its working if it does not drop stuck close if coolant just keep flowing stuck open that or just replace it really its not that hard and most offen goes bad so is a good bet its bad
how to replace thermostat
if you add video
how to replace thermostat video
sometimes even that you wil find info on how its done easy right good luck

Your head gasket might be out if you are losing that much anti-freeze. The thermostat is in the motor where your top radiator hose connects, but I dont think that will help. Fill up your radiator and see if your heater blows hot air, it will not if you are really low on water. That will tell you if your thermostat is bad.

Take it to autozone and have them run a coolant pressure test on it you will then find your leak wich is more than likely lim gasket failure and very exspensive to fix.
