can i use valvoline maxlife 10w30 oil in a car with only 42,000 miles on it.

I have heard that once you do this the seals will swell up and then you always have to commit to using a high mileage blend oil . Is this true.

I would think as long as you use the proper weight oil you should be ok, If the oil itself were thicker or thinner than standard oil it would reflect it in the weight (viscosity). Pretty sure the only difference is the additives in it. I've not heard of anyone having there seals blow out, or start leaking because the switched back to standard oil after using high mileage.

Thank you for a logical answer. ,the only reason I'm concerned is that on youtube I saw a video and they had mentioned once the seals have swollen and then yu go back to a synthetic or convention , the seals will go back to thier original state or size and then yu have to put the high mileage oil back in for the rest of the life of the engine to keep the oil seals from leaking ?
