Buick Ownership
2003 Lesabre Limited
Up until today the car has had no major mechanical issues that would impact drivability, owned since 2015. It is a 2003 Limited, under 90K miles. The car started great this morning and was driven around town for about 30 minutes. On the way back home my wife reported that the car stalled upon leaving a stop sign. The volt light was illuminated on the dash and it appeared the HVAC system was still working. She turned the ignition to the off position and started the car back up again to drive the rest of the way home. She didn't encounter another stop sign or any conditions where she had to stop. When I took it for a test drive I drove for about 4 minutes and approached a yield sign, so was coasting at a low speed, the car stalled again with the same symptoms. I turn the ignition off then restarted the car and drove home. About 4 hours later I went out to do further diagnosis and noticed that just after starting the car it began to stumble and run rough for about 3 seconds then stalled again. This is Wisconsin so it's 20F and the car was ice cold. The car was parked at this time. The three attempts I made to start the vehicle right after resulted in a stall about a second after turning over. It is also worth noting that the car chimes three times when this happens. So far I can gather that the car does this when at temp/warm AND cold. This is the first LeSabre that we've owned but I've owned three other 3800 Series II vehicles. 96 and 99 Bonneville, and a 97 Firebird. All had 180K - 248K miles without this particular issue. After inspection all vacuum lines and connections under the hood appear to be in good shape, attached, and intact. The only engine code that appears after a scan is an EVAP code that is related to an exhaust leak that has been stored for about six months now, so no other code appeared after this issue presented itself. Battery is newer. Attached is a picture of the dash just after a stall if it helps at all. Cheers and thank you!

How old is the battery? One in four batteries will fail this winter? Have you had the battery load tested and then voltage tested with engine running? .

The battery appears have been manufactured in November of 2018. Fires up and turns over well even in the very cold temps lately. The car FINALLY picked up another code when running it yesterday. Low voltage to the MAF sensor. I unplug it, car actually runs better and doesn't stall. Still runs a bit crummy but doesn't stall our every minute. I have one arriving tomorrow, fingers crossed. The code came in conjunction with a catalyst low efficiency code as well. Hope it's just due to the car running rough and the poor fuel trim as a result of the failed MAF.
