Car Won't Fire Up After Auto-Stop

Hello all, I could use some troubleshooting help.

I have a 2019 TourX. The engine recently started to intermittently fail to fire up again after going into auto-stop at traffic lights. The electronics stay on but I have to shift into park and hit the stop/start button to get it to start again. It doesn't happen every time I go into auto-stop, but it happens enough to be annoying.

My first thought (as someone who is not very mechanically inclined) is the battery, but I only replaced the battery a year ago and there are none of the issues I saw when I had to replace the battery (eg. power steering error messages). My next thought is the alternator or starter, but the car fires up first time without a problem when I hit the start/stop button.

Any ideas?

change the key fob battery, make sure you have gas in the tank, double check the battery connections. Check fuses.

Auto-Stop Feature Logic:
The auto-stop feature has built-in safety logic that can prevent it from functioning properly under certain conditions. For example, if the hood is open, the system will disable itself. Make sure the hood is securely closed when testing this feature.

Battery and Electrical System:
Even though you replaced the battery recently, it's worth checking the battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight. A loose connection can cause intermittent issues.
Consider testing the key fob battery as well. A weak key fob battery can sometimes prevent the car from starting properly.

Alternator and Starter:
Since the car starts fine when you press the start/stop button, the starter is likely functioning correctly. However, if the alternator is not charging the battery properly, it could lead to issues when the auto-stop feature engages. A quick test at a mechanic can confirm if the alternator is working as it should.

Fuel Level:
Some users have reported that their auto-start/stop feature works inconsistently based on fuel levels. If your tank is low (between 1/2 and 3/4 full), it might affect the system's performance. Keeping the tank adequately filled could help.
