Century ‘02 Cruise control clip

I was replacing my fuel pressure regulator and one of the tools bumped into the cruise control cable by the throttle linkage. The plastic clip part is now broken and it will not go back in the linkage part. is it safe to drive with the cruise control cable unattached? Where do i buy a new cable (or do you guys have any clip suggestions to weld/drill over). Ive been looking all over and haven’t seemed to find anything. Also, im pretty sure this isnt a thing, but are there any makeshift clip replacements (zipties, duct tape, etc) that would serve the same purpose? Thanks

I used two zip ties at 90 degrees to each other to hold the broken clip on the throttle arm.
