Hello, new owner here. Want to change the trans fluid. I'm DIY type of guy. Is this something that should be left to a shop, or something that an owner can do easily? TIA!!

A drain and fill on the transmission fluid is easy, you just may want to do it twice to try to change most of the fluid because of the cooler. The fill port is under the intake box, there is a fill level port on the side and a drain on the bottom. If you have a copy of the service manual it shows some pictures that could be helpful. Somewhere in these forums there is a link to magnetic drain plugs you can swap to if you feel so inclined.

You may want to search the forums on the specific fluid too because I seem to recall there were at least two different part numbers.

Thanks for the reply. I'll get a service manual.

The GS has the 9 speed which is a completely different animal than the more talked about 8 speed Aisin gearbox in the TourX, different fluid as well. 1711045191130.webp

Thanks for pointing out the differences. Much appreciated!!

Any luck with the fluid swap?

My local dealer had a service special on transmission flush. I took advantage of the special.

I usually follow the suggested maintenance in the owner's manual. I'll check that out. Thanks.
