I took my 2015 Encore in for "check engine" light on at 12,200 mi. They ran a diagnostic test and the code was for the "purge system". The Service rep. advised me that the "purge system" checked out fine - no problems with system. They ran a check again and the system checked out fine. I left with no " check engine " light on. I drove the car Friday and 10 minutes into my trip, the "check engine" light appeared again. I have an appointment to return to the service department this coming week.
Anyone else experienced this problem ?
Thanks in advance!

Do you know what exact code is?
Purge system?
Guessing evap code
Lots of things can cause evap code
First thing i would do is try the gas cap
Open /tighten to make sure that wasnt it

Oh those can be so frustrating! I had a Nissan Maxima that spent most of its life with the CEL on. No one could ever figure out why it did that but it never signaled a problem.

Not sure of the code - but yes it is to do with the EVAP. I did try the open/close of gas cap and light still on. The service rep did check my box that holds the air filter to see if it was lose but no change - I have it scheduled to take it back in to dealer. Will post results for the second trip to get it looked at. Thanks!

UPDATE - It was discovered - service agent informed me that the problem was the Purge Valve - no more " check engine" light!

Did you end up doing it yourself or did they replace it for you?

Not likely you'll get an answer. This is nearly a 3 year old thread. The OP has not posted since June of 2016. That was probably his last post here.

I received a letter to take my car in to the buick dealer because if the check engine light comes on then it might be for the purge pump fail and the dealer will replace it free of charge. My question is if the dealer tells me that the check engine light is for something not related to the purge pump and now they would want me to pay the high dignostic fee. I don't think I should be charged because I came in good faith because the letter. Should I have to pay?
