it displays intermittently and sometimes its dim. when its not lit up at all, the controls still work but i cant see what im doing

how do i remove the climate control safely?

i did a little research and it seems as though there is 4 resistors that have possibly come come loose on the circuit board, i know how to solder, i need to take the climate control out but i dont want to mess up my trim

if someone has a video on how to remove this or detailed instructions that would be great,
Thanks

I can't help you with removing it, but just wonder if it isn't in the dash light circuit. Does your radio display do the same thing as far as dimming etc.?

no, the radio light works perfect, only the climate control display

To remove the A/C controller all you have to do is remove the right trim plate - aka the "wood" trim.

Gently pry up on the trim plate while pulling up and back to release the retainers.

Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors that are part of the trim plate.

Remove the two fasteners holding the A/C controller in place and pull it rearward to expose the electrical connectors.

Disconnect the connectors.

While researching your problem I also saw this website that you might find useful - http://modulemaster.com/rebuilds/shop/climate/buick-regal-1999/

They do control unit rebuilds.

You could also try buying a used unit from a salvage yard just to test against your unit - check out this website - www.car-part.com
