Buick Regal GS
Hi,

I got a 98 Buick Regal. When my heat is on it blows nice hot air through the right side vents, floor, and front vent but the left gets cold air only. What i am thinking is that the flap door actuator for the dual zone climate control is stuck or blocked or the actuator it self is broken. Can anyone verify this problem? Also, I tried looking for the actuator but couldnt find it's location. any tips on where to exactly find it?

Thanks,

It's way the heck under the driver side of the dash. You have to poke your head all the way towards the front. It's above the accelerator pedal and to the right.

You have to take the soft shrouding and knee bolster out, and then the black steel frame that straddles the steering column to get access to it.

It was a real PITA to get to the two screws on the side of the actuator. Since there wasn't much room to maneuver and not enough space to hold a socket driver perpendicular to the screws, I had to get in there with socket extensions and joint adapters. I used a 5.5mm socket, but a 7/32" might work.

But it does sound like it is the actuator in your case. You may have caught my post about the A/C issues I had thinking it was the actuator when it really wasn't. I still have the original actuator which works fine. If you're interested in acquiring it from me, I would be willing to ship it to you for $5 to cover shipping.

That sounds like a tough job in a very tight spot. I was thinking that even if i can get my hand to move the actuator into the right spot I would be happy with that. as long as i get heat. I can wait till the spring or summer to actually work on removing it.

Do you know of any diagrams or photographs that should this actuator?

Thanks,
