Has anyone experienced their climate control randomly stop working?

About 2 hours ago I went on my lunch break at work and as I was walking out I used auto start. I get in and start heading down the road and tried to adjust my temp and fan speed and to my surprise there was nothing coming out of the vents. I pulled into the gym and sat there for a minute and when I would turn the AC on I could hear the compressor engage but still nothing would come out. I went into the gym for a hour and came back out and started it with the push start this time. Still nothing. So, out of frustration because I've come to hate this car over the recent months because of the stupid radio issues and terrible fuel mileage I started bang around the climate controls. After my fit of rage lol I put it in reverse and the second i put it in reverse it kicked on and started working. Has anyone experienced this and know what the cause is?

That's different. I can't think of why the gear selection would make any difference at all.

Have you checked your battery?

Between the TERRIBLE fuel mileage and the weird random constant glitches I ended up trading my Tourx in for something else. I don't know if it was my car or if it's all the cars but holy crap the fuel mileage was worse than a V6 truck. I appreciate the replies back but I couldn't stand this car anymore it kept pissing me off. I originally traded in my Volkswagen in for the TourX because I was sick and tired of owning a German car because they have constant issues. A month after owning the TourX I find out it's a German car lmao. Long story short, started having issues less than a year of ownership as I expected since it was a German car.

Between the TERRIBLE fuel mileage...

What type of mileage were you seeing? I'm getting 17-19 mpg quite regularly which was initially upsetting.

I started resetting the AVE MPH gauge each fill-up and saw that my average speed was around 24 mph for each tank. This mostly justifies the lower efficiency. These are efficient vehicles only at highway speeds and suffer greatly in the city.

But...I can't blame you for trading it in. The TourX has easily been my favorite car while also being the most frustrating to own.

I averaged about the same MPG as you. I expected it to be much better since it was a 4cyc turbo but I was mistaken. I did enjoy and love the car, I always had a thing for wagons. As I said in my previous post I was trying to get out of a German car because I always had issues with them. I was unaware that the Tourx was basically a Opel when I bought it. After finding out it was German I knew I was going to start having issues and I was spot on. I spent a year and 3 months in this car and about 4 months ago is when I started to despise it and started looking for something else.

I mean, not trying to defend the wagon.
But you got a 2.0 turbo with the amount of power and having about 24 MPG in mixed driving, while towing that heavy body.
Just because it is a 4 cylinder, that does not mean you would be getting 30 MPG.

Meanwhile, the electrical gremlins though...

Hi everyone,
I am having a similar issue to the original post. Occasionally, the climate control won't do anything for 5-15 minutes at the beginning of a drive. I've tried pushing every button and changing every setting. After driving for awhile, the climate control will just start working normally. Any ideas?
Thanks!

It’s your blower motor. Mine did the same thing and now it blows HARD. Harder than I remember. It actually keeps up with the southern heat now. Cheap, quick, and easy fix. You’ll need hex bits and interior removing tools (or a flat head screwdriver).

-remove passenger belly pan held on by two plastic clips using a screwdriver or interior removal tools. Pull the 2 black pins out and the rest of the clips can be pulled out with your fingers. The back is held by tabs so just pull the pan forward and set a side.

-look under and you’ll see the blower motor unit. Disconnect cable and remove hsing 3 hex screws.

-reverse process with new install.

Thanks for the info. Might as well replace the blower motor while I’m changing the compressor. Sounds like the blower is making too much noise anyway.

Speaking of the gas mileage… I have a Sportback, but I get 33mpg on the highway, rollin at about 84 mph and turning 2100 RPM. In-town mileage with all-day stop and go traffic is about 22-24 mpg.
