So, My Evil 2008 Buick Lucerne which I purchased from a dealer used in 2010 has developed a problem. Its got the clunk clunk noise when steering. My Windshield wiper low sensor also went out and while I was looking at replacing the Wiper level low sensor I saw this:

Both sides of the car appears to have gone bad. There is a good amount of space where I do believe a rubber gromit is/was. However, In my repair pdf I do not see where its listed. Anyone that is familiar I sure would appreciate it. it appears to be held on to the frame by two bolts and the bolt pictured above is facing to the front of the car. Apologies for the poor pic quality.

Looking at it, Doesnt look like it will be hard to replace as it is secured to the frame area with 2 bolts.

Is it safe to drive I guess is my question also?

Thanks,

The control arm it appears to be. So, That will have to be replaced. I think I drive with it like that for a while yet before I can get to it. Still finishing up some ABS work on my Lucerne.

I think you are correct, and what a shame for those to fail in 7-yrs! Most parts seem to be now outsourced to the lowest bidder.

Yes, It is a real shame. If I do have to replace them it doesnt look too hard. I wonder if I will need an alignment after I do replace them? Do you know?
