1971 Buick GSX
Just bought this 1971 , might be a gsx but title says gs. Has spoiler on back with a stripe going down side and a 350 with 4 speed. I was told a new clutch was installed and it hard to push down thos everything shifts well up but downshifting it chatter when first letting it out. then when in full out, no noise. I"m a somewhat mechanic for I try to do me own work and I looking to get this sqared away. Can anyone help?
Also where can I see the colors for the buicks 1971 to check what I got. Anything on line to compare??

When the clutch was changed did they surface the flywheel?
For the original color look at the trim tag on the firewall near the top edge.

I have no idea when clutch was change and exactly what work was done to the flywheel. The seller does not know for he was selling for a friend.
found the paint code.... do they have that on this forum and where is it
Thanks

Just Google 1971 Buick paint codes
Any idea how many miles on the clutch?
If newly installed it may go away otherwise you have to pull the transmission.

It is very hard to push the clutch down also. Not normal and I have driven many a clutch cars in me lifetime.
Possibilities??

They installed a clutch with a very high pressure because it's a "racing clutch" or maybe something is binding in the linkage.
Disconnect the rod from the clutch fork and step on the pedal.

You should sign up at V8Buick.com. They will have folks over there who have a lot more knowledge about the older Buicks.
