Our car developed a moderate coolant leak (not a small drip but a decent size puddle under the car after a drive), I thought it was the water pump because of the location of the puddle. I started the disassembly and after getting the motor mount out of the way and the belt off, the pump does not seem to have excessive play, and the pump and the area around it (within a few inches) seems to be dry. There are drops of antifreeze on the frame and shielding up to the level of the crank pulley, but like I said, the engine block adjacent to the water pump and the pump itself seem to be dry. The heater hoses on the car are on the drivers side so that system seems to be ok. Anybody have any thoughts? Unless I have a better idea I think I will put it all back together except leave the lower shielding off and see if I can better pinpoint the source.
