door panel removal

I am in the process of removing the inner panel of the driver's door of my '87 LeSabre Custom. The only thing holding the panel on now is the assist strap. How do I remove the strap?

It's been a long while since I've taken one off, but if I remember correctly, you insert a thin blade between the chrome and the rectangular insert on the end pieces and pry gently upwards. The fasteners are underneath the center piece.
