E G R valve On electra limited

I have bought and taken back 3 EGR valves
OREILY
AUTOZONE
NAPA AUTO PARTS
When I Take them to the MECHANIC he grabs them and twist the top and if they twist a little he says the are no good?
Any help on this
or is someone jerkin my chain?

A lot of junk out there. Buy ACDelco 214-1415 and tell him to put it on. If not go to someone else. I assume al the vacuum lines are good and not rotted. !976 had many emission control parts and any of them being faulty could also cause similar issues.

First time ever on that one?
GoAC DELCO pretty good and tight moving forward with that
IN CALI all FD up with regulations.
lines are all pretty dam good. Has always passed the smog man test.
