I have a 2010 Buick Enclave with a new engine with 40,000 miles on it. I have a check engine light with an error code of P0304 and a strong smell of fuel with white smoke coming out of the left tail pipe. I believe I have a failed fuel injector. Any other information helps.

white smoke is engine coolant, did you remove the spark plug and does it look like it has been washed clean?

Did the engine ever overheat? If so. you may have a blown head gasket. As mentioned, WHITE smoke out of the tail pipe is an indication of coolant ingestion into the combustion chambers.

I did remove #4 spark plug and replaced it and thd coil pack. The plug was warn and haf a strong fuel smell compared to plug#6. Why would the white smoke only come out of the left tail pipe and not the right?

Engine does not overheat it idles rough, smokes and in a couple of minutes it turns off. Strong fuel smell in and outside of car.

you may have multiple issues, a gasoline leak and a problem with the #4 cylinder. If you remove the oil fill cap do you see a creamy brownish substance which would indicate engine coolant mixing with the oil? Have you done a compression test? Have you done a coolant hydrocarbon test?

In addition, have you, or anyone else done a leak down test on #4 cylinder??

FIXED! FUEL INJECTOR #4 WAS THE ISSUE. I HAD A TOUGH TIME REMOVING THE FUEL RAILS AND I REUSED THE FUEL SESNOR AND JUMPER LINES. SO FAR SO GOOD! I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW ON THE ENCLAVER FORUM, VERY EASY AND WELL WRITTEN.

I replaced fuel injector #4 and ran vehicle 5 to 10 miles burning off excess fuel. No more white smoke or strong smell of fuel. It was tough taking off fuel lines and I reused jumper lines and fuel senor that alot of threads were saying to replace. All injectors had to be removed, I cleaned the others with carb cleaner.

I have this exact same problem now... just got this 2011 enclave and it was running great until about 2 hours ago and it idled rough as I pulled up home. Then I smelled this extremely strong has scent and noticed white smoke coming out of the mufflers.
