Encore auto stop feature not restarting

I have a brand new 2020 Encore GX. 5 times so far when I’m stopped at a red light and then need to go on the green, the auto start doesn’t kick in and I need to put the car back in park and restart vehicle while everyone behind me is honking. What’s up?

For me my auto stop/start doesn’t work at all, so I have it set to off until early January for my oil change and then have a service rep look at it. Your issue is somewhat concerning. I would hate to be stopped at a light then I have to figure out what happen for a few seconds and then put it into park to get going again. Would not like that at all. Take it in and then come back here and let us know the outcome

Hi, interesting. see my posts (link below) re a loud bang when going slow other owners reported same. I have turned off my start stop each time I start now to see if the bang stops. Testing if the bang is related to the start stop function. My auto start stop always turned the car back on ok though, just had this bang.

Encore GX Loud Bang

Hi I had a GX since March 2020 and in 4,000km have heard a loud bang (4 times in 4,000km, about once a month or so) coming from the drivers side dash area when slowing down to a stop, but before the car totally stops. Almost like a hammer hitting metal or a gunshot, very loud, it's that loud it...

My wife's car had the same thing happen to her 4 times. 3 times the car has been to the dealer, where they checked wiring, performed software upgrades and just performed an overall diagnostic. 3 months later happened again. Getting ready to make another dealer appointment.

With my issue above, I found it to be the battery itself. The battery doesn’t get really charged up cause I take very short trips. I drive about a half a mile one way than another and not much else so that is why mine failed to work anymore. I am now thinking of the 2024 model and with this new one I will just turn it off each time I get in the car. I don’t care for it and I wish they had a mechanism or a toggle switch. Then I can just turn it off permanently.
