I happen to run across some interesting data on the various 3.6l GM engines. From the first generation to the last. There's a lot of L-series 3.6l engines that are very similar in design. DOHC 24V VVT ect.... There are also a lot of differences but more similarities. Anyway looking at the different applications or vehicles the LFX engine is used in I noticed the HP and Torque numbers of the Buick Lacrosse and Cadillac SRX. Even though the HP numbers are close to the same as are the torque numbers the rpm that they occur is way different on the SRX. The torque peak is at 2400 rpm compared to 5300 rpm on the Lacrosse. Seem to me the SRX engine and tune would be a better match for the Lacrosse as well. Here is what I found in WIKIPEDIA.
2012–2016Cadillac SRX308 hp (230 kW; 312 PS) @ 6800 rpm265 lb⋅ft (359 N⋅m) @ 2400 rpm
2012–2016Buick LaCrosse303 hp (226 kW; 307 PS) @ 6800 rpm264 lb⋅ft (358 N⋅m) @ 5300 rpm
I believe mpg would improve with out losing to much in all out performance.
Other than obvious differences like exhaust and intake I would have to think the tune would be the biggest contributing factor as to the lower torque curve.
What do you all think?
