So, with the silverado due for an oil change, and the regal having 5k on the odometer, I figured I would change them both at the same time. First oil change for the Regal, so I knew it would take a few extra minutes (locating the drain plug, dealing with the oil filter "canister").
I was pleasantly surprised. Drain plug is where it should be, pointing towards the BACK of the car (not towards the passenger side tire like the silverado). The top cover of the canister oil filter was a little tricky, not a lot of clearance, and didn't have a socket big enough for the nut on top of the canister. Anybody happen to know the size so I can get one to make my life easier next time?
Kinda funny the car takes the same amount of oil (2.0T) as the truck (5.3 V8), LOL, explains the extended drain intervals.
BTW, Mobil 1 5W30 standard (not the high mileage crap), and the AC Delco PF 457G (I think, not enough coffee in me yet to remember exact numbers). Same filter that was in it from the factory (Hengst).
If you can turn a socket wrench and have the right size socket for the filter canister, no reason you can't change your own!
