My 18 Sportback I just bought looks like it's built before they stopped putting in the locking fuel door. The part of that system that is attached to the fuel door is broken off. Looks like it was nothing more than a plastic stud with possibly a rubber shroud around it. To open the fuel door now I have to slip something between the fuel door and the quarter panel.
Didn't think it would be a big deal, but I can't seem to find repair parts online for that. Not even sure what it would be called.
Anybody have experience and ideas for this one? Thanks!

Is this part your looking for? Or the swiveling pin which locks to door to the body?

I believe that someone needed the locking pin replaced previously and dealer threw on a non-locking door instead.

I don't know if that is it or not. I saw that in a previous search. I can't tell from the diagram if the fuel pocket contains the pin or not.

The pin that is broken is the part that is on the door itself and goes into the hole in the body (through the flange on the fuel pocket) that I believe has the locking solenoid behind it. With that pin broken off, the fuel door stays flush with the body but has no spring action to open when you push on the middle of the rear part of the fuel door.

Changing to a non locking door would be fine but I would prefer to only replace parts that don't need painted. The fuel door itself is painted body color and is a dark red metallic. Very difficult color to match. If that fuel pocket contains the locking pin etc. that would work.

The painted fuel door is a separate part from the pocket. Somewhere buried in another thread someone wrote that the pocket was replaced to fix the pin issue. I don't know how door comes off the flap, maybe some hidden clips, but it should be able to be transferred to new pocket. 2018-2020 Buick Fuel Door 39117325 | GMPartsDirect.com

I'm not certain on this.... but I would think you need to pull the plastic tab outward (green star) and slide the door cover off the hinge in the direction of the blue arrows.
