Hi all,

i have a few questions about a 2001 regal ls, that im sure some of you know the answer to.

1-fuel gauge reads empty or full. level sensor maybe? anyone can confirm or provide an alternate solution?

2-does anyone know if the front seats (driver and passenger) are mounted on the same bolt pattern. I do have power seats but i am inquiring about the cushion only. Will the passenger seat cushion bolt on the same mount as the driver seat cushion.

3- my regal has the 3.8 v6 in it and i just turned 400000km (248k miles) all highway. has anyone ever reached 450k (280k miles) with that engine?

thanks for your input.

AB

Well,
i switched the cushions over, had to makes some holes in the leather, but i got the ole needles and tread again and did a pretty good job with it.

I still need a second opinion on my fuel gauge issue.

Anyone??

While it's probably not the only possible answer, I've always found it to be just an old tired sending unit in the tank.
I think they can be purchased separately, but I think most just get the whole module with a new fuel pump and sender and everything.

At your mileage, it's probably just cheap insurance.
Your '01 should have an access port under the back seat so you don't have to remove the fuel tank to replace it.
Theoretically...

But let's not "assume" here either. If you can, follow the wires and connectors as far as you can to make sure that there is not just a loose wire or bad ground.
Speaking of bad grounds... If you live in a wet area of the world, perhaps your car is a bit rusty and some connections are getting weak?
Worth a look or two just in case.

Nobody I know, but I've heard of lots of folks getting 200 to 300k miles on their 3.8's.
I've only ever gotten to the 200 range myself, but with luck, I'll be able to spend enough time in my '04 to try that theory out in practice!

Good luck.

Paul

Well thank you for your input.

I will start tracing wires to find out if a bad ground could be the issue.

Thanks again
