I have a 1985 Electra Park Ave. 80k miles. When I bought the car I had an issue that when I backed up and stopped, the car stalled. I had the fuel pump replaced with an OEM fuel pump. The problem persists. In addition there is some type of fuel issue going on I cannot figure out.

Start the car from cold, and it starts right up. Try starting the car again after running it even for a few mins, will not start. Tries to start and cranks but never turns over. You have to turn off key completely, try starting 3 times. On third time, it starts right away. You can't hold key either, must turn to 'start' and let go of key quickly. Always starts on 3rd try.

If the outside temp is very hot (I live in desert) and you drive car for 30+ mins, car will flat out not start until engine is cold. Sometimes it will start but fizzle out right away (sputter, make boom noises from exhaust, and then die). I've been stuck for 1-2 hours like this in the hot weather. In hot weather, car sometimes dies when at idle or slow speed and won't start. This is not an issue in winter months.

Go around a turn quickly, car looses accelaration power but does not stall.

Sometimes when on the highway going 65mph+ with cruise on, car will loose accelaration power for a few seconds then pick back up on its own.
Any ideas? Could new fuel pump be bad? It's certainly related to fuel starvation. I can't trust the car as this is a serious reliability issue.

Check fuel pressure when hot with key on. Also at the point when it stalls. Cam sensor may also be a issue

I assume that the fuel filter was changed when the pump was replaced?

does pressing the brake pedal while in park strain the engine at all? I would inspect the booster and the check valve on it
