Just checking to see what you all use

You looked in your owners manual?

You looked in your owners manual?
Yes the manual says to use 91 or above which would bring mid-grade into it. I was curious as to what people are actually using, not what I should use. The manual also says you can use 87, but if you hear knocking to change to 91 or above. So thats why I put all three grades as choices.

We use mid grade in our '17 with a premium fill every 3rd tank and have had zero issues at all. We live in the country so most of our driving is highway and we don't abuse the car.

I've used 91-93 (whatever is cheapest at the time) ever since I bought the car, and I usually drive in town. As I can drive with a lead foot at times, I decided it was best to just use premium gas so I can avoid any issues that may come about if I used regular or even midgrade gas with my driving style.

where are you seeing mid grade as 91?

91 or above is premium. 87 is regular. 89 is mid grade. manual says you can use 87 but you might have issues. if it says you can use 87, i'm guessing you can use 89, but might have issues. So was wondering if anyone actually used regular or mid grade like the manual says you can, but might have issues.

Most higher compression engines call for mid-grade or hi-grade to eliminate pre-ignition (knock). I have always used low-grade in my Turbo Regal without any issues. Have never heard any knock but knock sensors adjust timing to prevent this as well. Besides, who can afford to put in hi-grade anyway?

You gotta find the right places. I always use Gas Buddy to find the cheapest prices in my area. Just the other day, I got 91 at a Sunoco station for $3.59/gallon

Premium. Don't cheap out. Saving a few dollars filling up with regular isn't worth it if you have issues down the road.

I always use premium, but, I have noticed a difference in the BRAND of premium I use.
It seems that the car just runs better when I go to the Mobil as opposed to the no-name station that always has the cheapest prices in town.

I always run 91 or 93 premium. Ad a bottle of Techron additive every now and then to help protect fuel system parts from the small amount of Ethanol that's already in most fuels, (up to 15%). I notice a difference in mileage if I use 89 vs 91 or 93 premium. I have a 2 hour commute round trip, 5 days a week, majority of it highway driving. Up to a 2-3 mpg difference. with 89 I'll get around 25-26. With Premium I've gotten as good as 29 mpg.

I get better acceleration with premium. Strangely enough I even get better acceleration from certain brands or specific stations.
One of the weak aspects of our LTG motor is carbon buildup in cylinders. I believe it’s less of a problem with premium fuel.
I like the performance aspect of this motor, so I’m willing to pay more for premium to enjoy the ride.

Agreed, it is crazy that anyone would not just put 93 in to start, and those that would argue the expense of using 93 are not considering it is far cheaper avoiding any repairs later by using cheap fuels.
