So I had my upper & lower radiator hoses replaced today and a coolant flush as well. The invoice shows that they used what is called a Gold Universal Antifreeze. Is this safe in my 2001 Park Ave ?

You should call them and ask what brand did they use.
I'm actually going back next week to have my rear coilovers replaced. I'll ask him . I did notice that my engine is running 8 degrees cooler since the change . Upon research I had read that gold coolant is generally HOAT/OAT certified . Perhaps they're specifically using this coolant because it gets hot AF here in Vegas. Needless to say I'll ask what brand and if it's HOAT/OAT certified . Thank you

Consider also adding some Water Wetter. It helps by breaking the surface tension of the coolant to allow for better contact and therefore more heat transfer.
Thanks .....she's running cool enough for now . 194 - 203 in triple digit weather here is good 👍

So I went back today to have my rear coilovers replaced and asked him what brand is the coolant that they use. He said he didn't know and that they get it shipped in bulk. 55 gal drum I'm assuming. So I asked if could find out for me so I can buy a gallon to keep in my trunk in case I run low from evaporation . He said ok and that he will try to find out. Later when I went to pick my car up he had a gallon of DexCool on the counter and said " this is what GM recommends you use in your car" . I said I know that. I already have a gallon of DexCool in my trunk but I want a gallon of what you have in my car now in case I run low. He responded saying that I can mix the DexCool into the gold coolant because it's a universal coolant that they use 🤡 . I said no, you can not mix different coolants together. I said that Universal just means it can be used in any car. He just stared at me like a deer in headlights. I gave up and walked out 😡

They know what they're putting in your car. They just don't want to spend the effort to find out and share it with you.

Imagine if GM, Ford, or anyone else ever sold you a new car and said that the coolant is universal but wouldn't tell you the details of its chemistry or what to use to top it off.

This is the same level of incompetence that they're showing, regardless of their skills at repairing your car.

This shop makes repairs only as needed and sometimes doesn't charge us If it's something minor like securing a radiator hose that popped off or fixing the washer fluid reservoir on my wife's car . The spout where you pour the washer fluid in disconnected from the water tank itself . They put it back in and secured it with zip ties and didn't charge us. This young guy that works the counter is straight up lazy. I wish the owner of the shop was there when he told me I can mix different coolants together . Would have been a different outcome.

Bulk 55gal drums of anything are labeled. Just ask them or you take a picture with your phone of the label.
They don't allow customers in the shop for insurance reasons. Tried walking in once before 🫤

So I just looked at the receipt and the radiator & hoses shows that they're from O'Reilly's Auto Parts store which is conveniently on the same side of the highway 3 minutes away. What are the chances in it being this coolant with the magic word "Universal" coolant on the jug? 🤔

Gotta say I'm impressed with how my coolant temps have remained under 200 degrees since the new radiator, hoses and flush out . 110 degrees today and my coolant temperature ranged from 192 - 196.
