Buick Ownership
13 LaCrosse Prem
I have 13 LaCrosse Premium. After I bought the car, I noticed that there were no gridlines on the display when using the backup camera. The owner's manual has instructions to turn them on, but there is no option for it on my car. A call to the dealer confirmed that the 13 LaCrosse software doesn't support the gridlines. Since using the backup camera doesn't allow depth perception, this absence of grid lines renders the camera almost useless. I was hoping Buick would offer a software update but so far I haven't seen one. Has anyone contacted Buick about a fix? Does the 14 LaCrosse have grid lines?

Yes, the 2014 LaCrosse does have gridlines. These gridlines and their path also turn left or right depending on how much you turn the steering wheel showing you your projected pathway. My 2009 Enclave had the gridlines but not the turning feature. I like the new feature so much better.

I've been waiting as well, even contacted GM. At this point I'm not holding my breath. In fact just looked at a 2013 Equinox and it too is missing the grid lines which I also say makes the camera nearly worthless. Sad to say this 30 yr GM guy is buying a Hyundai within the week...

I had a 2010 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 that had an Audio/Nav issue that Hyundai could not fix. I ordered a 2012 Genesis but on a whim I decided to check out the 2012 Buick LaCrosse. I ended up purchasing the 2012 LaCrosse and had no regrets. As you can see I now own a 2014 LaCrosse.

If grid lines missing from the back up camera bother you than read the following from the owner of a 2015 Genesis:
Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"
Backup camera is way off the mark, with the steering wheel straight you can see it clearly in the following pictures. What's really odd is the top down view shows me off in the opposite direction of what the normal view tells me. I have tried it on both the 5.0 and V6 HTRAC Ultimate's with the same results, I'll let the service manager know:

I am not telling you not to buy a Hyundai but it has been said that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Take your time and really check out the Hyundai you are interested in and make certain that you are really comfortable with it.

Do not be fooled by those who say foreign brands are better than domestic as in allot of cases it is not true. You can have an issue with any brand be it Economy or First Class. As for me the two brands that I will never purchase again is Lexus and Hyundai.

Good Luck......
