At the rate mine is going I'd be ecstatic to make it to 80k miles before it croakes. Curious how many miles is typical for them.

A 2016 at 60k miles so far have replaced the turbo, maf, alternator, strut mounts, ac compressor, coolant reservoir tank, and fuel pump. I'm hoping since I've had to replace stuff, I must be due for a trouble free year, hopefully.

I do Mobil 1 every 5k miles. Feel like I'm all in with this thing so I'm keeping it until it croakes.

Anyone made it to 100k miles without too many issues? Curious

Wow, that's a lot in those miles. My wife's 2016 Encore Sport Touring has only had to have a MAF sensor changed around 35k and the original battery replaced over this past winter. She has 56k on it.

Your experience seems to be not common. Between this forum and the 2 FB groups I'm in, I do read about issues like yours, but most people have pretty trouble free experiences.

That’s good to hear. I’m giving it some tlc and plan to keep so hopefully after the rough patch it will be smooth sailing. It’s doing great now.

I’ve actually talked to someone late last night (coworker) that have over 200k miles without too many issues so they can be great vehicles. He has 3 in his family and all have original turbos. Never knew he had an encore much less 3 of them😀

I can't believe you've had so many major components fail like thatt, alternator. Fuel pump turbo...wow I hope u got some of it under warranty..

I wonder why the turbos are failing... Bad oil? Using cheap 87 gas?? I run 93 so the luv motor runs its best

I learned this week Honda makes an Acura based on the civic.. Its $27,000 and has an 8 speed with a 2.4 l motor.. Comparable to a base Buick as far as standard features.. Supposed to be a good car

There is not anything at all wrong with using 87 octane gas in the Encore engine.

Nothing wrong with running 87 except it runs like crap compared to 93… i might thjnk that running 93 might be easier on the turbo.. idk, thats what im asking. But you can feel a big difference running 93..

Also i do oil changes 5-6k miles, a bit of safety facter over waiting to 7500 as the manual says

Yeah once I replaced the turbo I noticed it still felt kind of sluggish. Tested the new turbo everything fine so I started running premium and it runs so much better. On 87 it almost acts like a slipping transmission. On mine premium is a night day difference, both shell gas. It's the only car I've ever had that didn't require premium, that runs so much better on premium. Other cars I couldn't tell a difference and was probably wasting $$$.

Of course it makes more power on more octane, normal for a boosted engine. It does not mean that 87 is bad for the engine or will harm anything.

My 2015 has 162,000 miles. I've had a few repairs but nothing major. Recently I had a ball joint placed and my mechanic is working on the other sounds. The engine, perfect. I expect to get 200,000 or more miles out of this vehicle. (I get the high mileage oil)

My 2015 has 176,000 miles. I am getting the catalytic converter replaced and I had a ball joint replaced earlier this year. I change the oil a little more frequently than 5k miles and I expect to get 200,000 or more miles out of this vehicle. I also get the high mileage oil.

Weird. When I bought mine (2017) and was told it was meant to run on 87,I thought that meant I should not use 89 or 93. Can I now? I take good care of mine with early oil changes. I have about 160,000 miles on it. Is it too late to switch?

It's designed to use 87, but you can use higher. Age/mileage isn't an issue. But you may notice an improvement, you may not. I didn't see any difference between 87 and 93 myself. Psychologically, maybe 93 felt smoother, but I think it was a placebo effect.

If 87 is working for you, going higher is typically seen as a waste of money. Especially with today's prices. 93 is $1.00 per gallon more than 87 where I am.

Best factor (and recommended in the owner's manual) would be to use only Top Tier gas with the additional detergents. I personally only use Mobil gas.

I have a 2016 Buick Encore (leather package) that just rolled past 82,000 miles. Aside from taking it in for recall bulletins/service, my car has been a dream. I recently replaced the original brake pads (YES...original pads) and prior to that in November, it was in the garage for a turbocharger replacement (per Buick's recall notice for this item)...and that's it! The car was driven a few years on somewhat smooth New Hampshire roads, Georgia streets and highways and now, Wisconsin's washboard and pothole damaging roads. Sorry to hear you are having issues - you might have gotten a late Friday afternoon special from the manufacturer.
