Enclave
New Here, Ive seen a few threads of Buicks with battery/starting issues, how ever not the same make of Buick as mine. SO here we go... I have a 2014 Buick Enclave, that I love BTW. My car will not start. I have a portable jumping thing Ive had to invest in to insure Im not stuck dead somewhere. When car is on the gage states 14. This is Lower than what it use to state which was between 16/17. I was told for my gage to register this high is a concern. When it was at this # I had zero problems starting it. Now it stays at 14 and will not start without a jump. I believe the alternator is working, if i leave it running or drive long enough it will charge the battery to a higher number. From what Ive read a battery registering at 13 should start a car, yet mine wont. Ive learned to cut ALL power i can off, but this car has so many bells and whistles that are auto that i cant turn off. Like the dimming lights ect. Im ready to just purchase a new battery BUT have been told battery and alternator are BOTH good, THEN WHY WONT MY CAR START EVERYDAY??? Any advice, suggestions anything please know is greatly appreciated.

How old is the problem? How old is the battery? Who and what type of testing was done on the battery and alternator? Has anything been done on checking the battery cables and they are clean and secure?

Have your battery load tested at Auto Zone or an equivalent parts store. They will check your battery's level of charge and condition plus they can see if your alternator is charging properly. Start there and check back here with the results.

I'm going to take a guess and say the gauge in your car is off by about 2.5 to 3 volts. Use a voltmeter and check the battery with the vehicle turned off. You should see 12.6V or greater. Start the car and check it again. You should see about 13.5V to 14.5V. Let the car sit for a couple hours or so then check the battery again with it off. It the voltage is decreasing and it's under 12.6V, it's probably time for a new battery.

I've driven cars to autozone with batteries that I know are bad and they always test good because they just got a fresh charge during the drive and have about 1 good start in them. What I do now is when I know a battery is on its way out, I wait until it's dead enough to where it won't start the car and I remove it from the vehicle then bring it in for testing. It always tests bad then. When my suburban battery was going bad, If you unlocked the doors with the fob, just the interior lights and the headlights being on for a few minutes were enough to drain the battery. I took it to autozone, turned it off, left the headlights on and radio on for 10 minutes then had them test it. It tested bad and they replaced the battery. 10 minutes with the headlights on and radio going would not bother a good battery.
