'94 Le Sabre PCV replacement for dummies...

I just had the PCV valve replaced on my 1994 Le Sabre. This is a real pain to figure out, so I got some professional help, and thought it might be useful to share the technique with everyone. So, here's how to find and replace the PCV valve on a '94 (apparently, some of the other 3800 engines manufactured close to that year are very different, so no promises on this working for anything but a 1994 Le Sabre...): Carefully remove the plastic cover (the one that says "3800" with "Tuned Port Injection" written underneath) off the top of the engine. Said cover clips onto to the shiny metal rails in about 4 or 5 places. As you remove the cover, notice that on its left side, it clips on to an undistinguished-looking round rubber or plastic assembly. (The cover has a short, flat edge on its left side which covers and attaches to the assembly, on the assembly's left side) The assembly is on top of the engine, just to the right of (or "behind") the pulleys and belts on the "front" or left of the sideways-mounted engine. Inside this roundish assembly is the PCV valve.
Twist the cover off of the assembly, and the PCV valve is found underneath the cover. Hallelujah!
Look at your new replacement PCV valve. It has a long neck, going into a cylindrical body. You will notice a flange or "lip" around the base of the body. This is what the spring sits on. Take the old valve out with a pair of needle-nose pliers, and replace the spring onto your new one. Be sure to keep the o-ring which you will find around the old PCV valve, and re-install it on your new valve.(Otherwise your engine won't run properly!) Also be sure to check the o-ring around the mouth of the opening in the assembly-but it's probably OK-mine was. Put your new valve with the existing spring and o-ring back in the hole, twist the cover onto the assembly, then re-attach the plastic cover to the top of the engine. Voila! Best of luck, and my thanks to the fine folks at Trinity Motors here in Wichita for their assistance with my PCV valve replacement!

Ik someone's upset I bumped this 20 year old thread but since I can't send an unregistered user props privately I'm going to remind everybody here how valuable forums still are..

as has been the case with everything on this end of inventory, end of obd1.5, end of the series 1 3800, late October of 95 production, well preserved demon from hell 1995 lesabre im prepping for it's next odometer rollover...there have been infinite details about common parts and systems that matched nothing else gm built, including early 95 lesabres. As a result, this and another forum are the only places remaining online to I can ever find certain specific info on it, and all the other oddball crap i work on.

Just like art, music, governments, and relationships, Google has been diluted with ongoing repetition of popular basic bi+@h nonsense and is now a cesspool of greed deception and broken promises.

Gotta keep these things active guys. We need teach our kids and grandkids that this is the only AI that tries to make a positive difference in someone's day without influencing the way you live your live and spend your money.
