I have a Buick Lesabre 2000 and the only problem I've had is with the windows. Whenever I had that problem, I sent the car to the dealer under insurance coverage and they would fix it. Now, I have no longer insurance and my window recently broke down again. Can you help me on how to uncover the door and what piece(s) I have to change? thanks.

Before you start on this, please realize that it is not a job for amateurs. There are relays involved, and a lot of electrical connections. My suggestion, is to go to the library, and see if they have a Buick manual, showing what you need to look for. Borrow it out, so you've got a better "helper" than what information you will get here. I'm not trying to be a know it all, it's just a lot of complicated "stuff"

hold the switch and bang on the door, hard. i'm not kidding. happens all the time on customers cars. the majority of the time it will jar the motor and let the window go up, then leave it and have someone who knows what they are doing tear it down.

Like others have said, it's not aj ob for amateurs.

If you have a level of experience where you feel ready to take off the inner door cover carefully, and then visually inspect the regulator and cable that lift the window for problems, or you're ready to trouble shoot the motor for failure or getting power, you can buy replacement regulators on Ebay and other places much cheaper than dealer. Rockauto.com would be another one to check. There are places where you ship your old one and wait a few days for them to ship it back, repaired.

I recommend checking AllData at your local public library. Ours for the area subscribes to that data service along with all the intellectual databases. But it can't be accessed from my home computer like other databases they have; I have to go to the library and use their computer. I can save web pages and individual pictures to my USB thumb drive. They will also print out pages for a charge per page.

Or buy a factory service manual for your can from helminc.com, the original GM supplier. You can find them on Ebay as well--be sure you know what the books look like and how many volumes are for your 2000. My 2003 has two volumes.

Window Regulator Replacement, So Easy!

Ok, So after My THIRD window regulator went out on me last week, I almost went out and bought a Toyota. Last year I had the two rear regulators go out on me and I paid $650 each to get them fixed! The power of the internet led me to believe that I can fix the front passenger one that took a shit on me last Sunday. I purchased a regulator w/motor from "AM autoparts" online for $56 including free shipping, (GM wanted $450 for OEM! Yikes!) Im a painter by trade not a mechanic, and I was able to do this repair myself in less than 1.5 hours. It was very simple to complete, Thank god for the internet for supplying the part and instructions! :headbang:

I just changed mine on my 2000 Le Sabre. I was suppose to do it last year and ordered the new assy. Got sidetracked during the winter and forgot I purchased it.
Purchased another one.

Best place I found was on Ebay $60.00 + postage.

It's available for $40.00 + postage.

If your interested, email me.

It's for the right side (passenger side door)

It'seasaly done and you only need a small wrench to remove the assy. from the door.

Thanks 98' Twilight, I was just about to post this....... If you have some basic knowledge of auto repair, this should be an easy fix! The key is to remove the door panel gently so you dont break anything. The part can be found off the internet for pretty cheap, I purchased mine for $56 which included shipping. Good luck!
