2011 buick regal cxl sedan
Own a 2011 buick regal sadan .. How disable trunk release button under the buick regal symbol on the trunk. I dont like the ideal that anyone can press it and get into my trunk.. 🙁

I image it has its own electrical plug... The only wiring running off the trunk

This is funny to me, because I've asked on this forum the opposite question: what makes that trunk release work? With my manual trans 2012, I've found that the trunk release only works (assuming I'm in the car with the FOB) if I've got the parking brake applied and have unlocked the doors. Otherwise, that button won't work.

I had to figure this out because I'd drop my kids off at school and their band instruments would be in the trunk, and we couldn't get the trunk to open for them.

So, assuming your car works the same, I don't think you have to worry about anyone opening the trunk while you're sitting in the car unless you unlock the doors and set the e-brake (or put it in Park most likely for an auto trans).

When you aren't in the car, the trunk will open for anyone if the doors are unlocked, but if the doors are unlocked they could just open a back door and pull down a seat to get into the trunk even if that button was disabled.

Well they can only open it if the car is unlocked so.... whats the issue?

Awwww T07... you are a genius !! I never thought about that until you told me. So i went out to the garage and locked my doors. The trunk wouldnt open.. weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! I would never thought of that in a million years! Thank you !!

Hmm I'm perplexed because I want to open my trunk use the emblem but it won't open. I have an automatic and tried applying the ebrake but didn't do anything...got excited it might but nothing. Started another thread and was told I have a short and have replace part of the wiring.

How it 'should' work (per my understanding):

With the car on or off, if the person with the FOB in his pocket presses the button, it will open regardless of anything else.
With the car on and the FOB in the car, it will only open if the doors are unlocked and the e-brake on (manual trans... not sure about auto)
With the car off, if the person pushing the button does not have the FOB, it will only open if the doors are unlocked (e-brake doesn't matter).

If the button never works, your car is broken. 😀

This is probably right. I have had problems opening the trunk with the car running and me in it. I would like to just press the button on the fob and have it open rather than messing with the e-brake, door locks etc.

All of this is exacerbated by the fact that these switches had a high rate of intermittent failures, which makes operating procedures even more confusing.

I wonder if some of the intermittent failures of the trunk release button are really just the fact that the owner's manual doesn't state the enable conditions for the trunk release?

I thought mine was intermittently failing before I did a bunch of experimentation to determine that in order for my kids to be able to open the trunk with me in the car I had to unlock the doors and apply the e-brake. Now I know my switch is fine, but my procedure used to be randomly correct or incorrect before.

If I have the keyfob in pocket, I can open the trunk with everything locked. When my switch failed, it was intermittent and then just died.

There is a setting for door locks that I adjusted.....might have something to do with it.

Mine works when I have the fob regardless if the parking brake is on or the doors are unlocked.

My intermittent features are me, standing at the back of the car, changing nothing about the locks or PB, trying it a few times and it finally opens. Since the button on the FOB always works, I am too lazy to fix it.

Using the button under the Buick logo, I also have to usually press it a couple of times /hold it down to get it to open.

Symptoms of the button on its way out. Sooner or later just stops working.

I have a 2011 buick regal I left my key in trunk and my doors are locked and I haven't set up on star yet how can I get into car with no money

Try a towing service if you have roadside assistance on your insurance, some police department use to but that has fallen out of style, use a slim jim tool with a window bladder, call someone who can get you to the other set of keys. If none of these work what are your plans then?
