How do you replace a door handle on a 1996 Buick Regal?

remove door panel from inside car will be a linkage to pop off and a couple nuts.. you will have to go to a dealer to order handle

You can get them from jy as well because they are commin for breaking. So jy tend to strip good ones off to resell and for about half the price of a new one. Most of the time they even have one in the desired color you need.

If you have a Pick-a-Part yard around you thay are cheap. The one's in southern California charge about $10 for them. Plus it's good practice to learn how to take them off.

Coupe or sedan? Outside handles on the coupe are notorious for this. Easy fix, though. Handles available on eBay for about $20 and the most specialized tool you'll need is a razor blade. Do not, repeat, do not remove the inside door panel. All the repairs can be made from the edge of the door when it's open.

When I replaced a outside rear handle on my 1996 regal I had to drill out 3 pop rivets and remove 3 bolts on latch to move electric lock plate. I could then get to the 2 bolts on the handle.... To install the tab to handle I had to drill a 3/4" hole 2 3/8 " up from latch hole. Needle nose pliers were used to get tab lined up. you have to move things around to do this...... Good luck!!!!

I’m just going to revive this ancient post because I just can NOT get this to work nor find much info.
RH F Outside for handle. I get the lock rod into the slot but it just slides out or I I get it to stay still will not open door!
There’s not a clip I can see (nor much space to position one) that’s broken off. I did find a video griping about the lack of one - so I figure it’s just the design… but HTF do u get this thing to function?!?!
Is LH F the same? Neither one of mine are working. Inside handles are fine.
